What should I do in a dental emergency?
Dental emergencies can be scary if you don't know how to handle them. Your first instinct might be to panic, but you should remain calm knowing that you have a great dental team on your side at Toronto Lakeshore Dental. We offer convenient evening and Saturday appointments and we make every effort to see our emergency patients as soon as possible and in many cases, we can offer same day dentistry.
Understanding how to handle common emergency situations can also make it less stressful for patients, so here are some helpful tips:
- A knocked out tooth: This situation requires you to move quickly as we have a better chance of saving your tooth the quicker we can treat it. Be careful when transporting your tooth and try not to touch it too much. You can place it back in its socket or use milk to keep it moist and the cells alive.
- A broken or chipped tooth: Gather the pieces of your broken tooth and get to our office as soon as you can. A chipped tooth can be smoothed and may not require immediate attention.
- A toothache or dental pain: If you are experiencing a severe and constant toothache, this could be indicating an infection. Contact our office right away as root canal therapy may be able to preserve your tooth.
If you or a loved one is experiencing a dental emergency in Toronto, don't hesitate to contact your team at Toronto Lakeshore Dental right away.
