Why do I need a root canal?

If you've been told you need a root canal, you likely have a tooth infection. You might even be feeling some pretty severe discomfort. Unfortunately, a tooth infection won't get better on its own. It requires treatment, which is typically a root canal, to eliminate the infection, alleviate pain, and save your natural tooth

What Happens During Root Canal Treatment in Etobicoke?

A root canal begins with one of our dentists numbing the compromised tooth with a dental anaesthetic. This immediately alleviates the discomfort caused by the tooth infection and ensures that you don't feel anything throughout your procedure.

Next, they carefully access the inner canals of your tooth and remove the infected tissues. Then it's filled with a permanent material called gutta-percha that guards against further infection.

Finally, they seal the tooth with a temporary filling to give it time to heal and stabilize. After it's fully healed, you'll return to Toronto Lakeshore Dental to have a permanent filling or crown placed to rebuild and strengthen the tooth.
